How to Create Canon Entries
This guide walks you through creating canon entries — the events, lore, backstory, and knowledge that define your world.
Prerequisites
- A Sojen world created and open
- Optionally, some entities already created to link to
Steps
-
Go to the Canon tab — Click the Canon tab in your world navigation, then click Create Canon.
-
Write your canon entry — Describe the event, piece of lore, backstory, or world rule. Be as detailed as you like; more detail gives the AI better context for generation.
-
Place on the timeline — Assign the entry to a timeline period so it has chronological context. If you have not created timeline periods yet, you can do this later.
-
Link entities — Connect the characters, locations, and objects involved in this canon entry. This helps the AI understand who and what is relevant.
-
Assign to a story arc — If this canon entry belongs to a specific narrative thread, assign it to a story arc and chapter.
-
Organize with categories — Tag the entry with one or more categories for easier filtering and browsing.
-
Create sub-entries — If the canon entry is broad (e.g., a war), create child entries beneath it for specific events (e.g., individual battles).
What to do next
- Build a Story Arc — Organize your canon into a structured narrative
- Create a Codex Document — Generate a PDF from your canon and entities
- Set Up Your Timeline — Organize content chronologically
