Setting Up Your World
There are three ways to start a new world in Sojen, and none of them is wrong. Choose the approach that matches how you think about your story.
What it does
World setup defines the starting structure of your project. You can begin with AI-assisted brainstorming, jump straight into creating entities, or start writing canon and stories. The platform adapts to whichever path you choose.
When to use it
- You are starting a brand-new world from scratch
- You want to migrate existing notes or outlines into Sojen
- You are unsure where to begin and want AI guidance
How to use it
- Start with AI Assistant — Open Pulse Chat and brainstorm. The AI helps you identify what entities and canon to create, and guides your early decisions.
- Start with entities — Go to the Entities tab and begin creating characters, locations, or objects. This is ideal for character-driven projects.
- Start with canon — Go to the Canon tab and write events, lore, or backstory. Good for history-heavy or event-driven worlds.
After your initial content is in place:
- Connect content — Link entities to canon entries, assign canon to timeline periods, and organize with categories
- Create stories — Build story arcs with chapters to establish narrative flow
- Generate media — Try creating a comic or codex even with limited content to see what is possible
Tips and best practices
- Start simple — a handful of entities and a few canon entries is enough to begin generating media
- Use the AI Assistant to fill gaps and suggest connections you may not have considered
- Organize as you go with categories rather than waiting until you have everything
